Acting Department

Acting is an art. In the film world, it’s an art that ends up needing to coincide with other people’s ideas of the necessary art.

While many people believe they want to act, and may be able to do so EXTREMELY well – in the media world, the very opportunity for acting more often than not starts with an agreement on a “face” for the role and then ends with agreement on how one plays out a small portion of lines. This can drive anxiety for some and depression for others. For this reason, it’s important to note than one’s ability to act is Never built solely on any single audition.

In our youth Fall Film Program, we focus on the opportunity for an audition but ensure that everyone who’s interested in being a part of our film actually cares about the end result of our film progression, instead of merely their own individual status. We do this by only allowing auditions from youth actors who commit to our film production in a department, and will continue in it even for those who aren’t chosen. (More aren’t chosen than are; let’s be honest.) Flock Talent does not open the door to auditions for youth who aren’t “all hands on deck” in attitude – because we won’t support anything less.

WE OFFER

  • Fall Film Production “open casting calls” for those interested in acting roles (shows on social media & at premiere)
  • Thanksgiving Break TV Mini-Series allows for many additional acting roles, both long and short (shows online)
  • Winter Workshops for “Actors Prep” helps realistically prepare youth interested in gearing toward pursuing acting
  • Spring Scene Intensives is our signature program that can allow anyone to prepare an online reel for themselves
  • March Mass Media Masterclasses are one day in-depth projects to bolster online reels and more (leave with results)
  • Summer Show Challenge — currently TBD, but often allows for more acting opportunities among participants

JUST IN CASE YOU HADN’T NOTICED… Famous actors today have a created rapport, from their social media posts, to media marketing for a film, and even about what they wear and how they care and communicate. What’s not commonly spoken about is how it ironically generates confidence while generating responsibility, and that in an actors world they’re celebrated and also heavily judged. So when it comes to youth being affected by ‘the acting bug’ these things must be explained! It’s for this reason that during Winter break we offer Actors Prep classes.*

*NOTE: The life and reputation class is a required pre-requisite for all other classes! For this reason it is offered as the first workshop, but is offered online as well as in-person. Every student interested in these workshops must both take the class and fill out the corresponding documentations prior to attending any other class. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN LOST MONEY – where the student will not be allowed to enter any other class even thought it was paid for, because we believe this class truly is that important of a “reality check.”
